City et al Bargaining Committee 2015, 2019, 2022, & 2024
It has and continues to be an honour to represent our City et al members at the Bargaining Table thus far. As an elected member to the committee I take my responsibilities seriously to ensure that my contributions help to move us forward collectively. I have held many roles on the bargaining committee starting with Member at Large, to Recording Secretary, Co-Chair and for our current round Chair.
Elected as an alternate for the City et al bargaining committee in 2015. My role on the committee was also that of recording secretary - as an understudy to Brenda Coombs.
Joint Health and Safety Committee - Vancouver Parks Board of Parks and Recreation
I have been an active member of the JHS committee since 2014. Somewhat of a safety nerd, in previous jobs I would sit and read the Workers Compensation Act. Prior to 2014 their was a gap in our committee and with the work of a great young worker at the time - we were able to get the committee up and running with functioning terms of reference and a signed variance from the local.
Over this time I have been able to work with others and help to guide them on the principals of the committee. Such items as ensuring that the employer doesn’t out number workers on the committee.
Through this committee I have been able to implement changes for our workers, some of these changes include:
Playground leaders no longer expected work alone in our parks
Hydrometers being used over the summer months to ensure safety in our hot summer months.
I am a firm believer in the Union Slogan:
“AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL”
Over COVID I took the opportunity to return to school obtaining a Certificate from Simon Fraser University on Occupational Health Safety which I have found exceptionally beneficial in ensuring our members have the tools to ensure safer worksites on a daily basis.
Labour Management Committee - Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation
I have been a consistent member of the Labour Management Committee for the Parks Sector. Using this platform to address various issues including but not limited to:
Scheduling concerns
Training for new programs and software being introduced
